iChoose Career Fair 2022
The I Choose Career Fair is organised by the Ministry for Education and targets all Year 11 students. It is an opportunity whereby students can explore further career and educational options as they leave compulsory education.
We had a stall during this event where we welcomed a lot of students and answered any questions they had with regard to the various careers they can follow in healthcare.
Guidance was also offered to those who were unsure of what to pursue or what course they needed to pursue in order to get to their desired profession.
A talk was also given by us during this event, where our representatives outlined all the different different career opportunities and the multiple benefits of pursuing a career in healthcare.
An overview of the Ministry for Health was also given, so as to give students a better idea of how everything the Ministry’s entities, with their 8000+ employees collectively, all work together to provide a service to the Maltese population.
Director General (People Management) Workforce Strategy Presentation
Maureen Mahoney, Director General (People Management) delivered a presentation regarding the soon to be launched Health Workforce Strategy for an international audience of leaders in International Healthcare.
This was organised by Health Education England for the ‘Year of the Health and Care Workers Seminar Four. Health is Everybody’s Business: maximising the contribution of support and other workforces in health.’
National Health Workforce Strategy 2022-2030 Launch
The People Management Division within the Ministry for Health on Wednesday 26th October, 2022 launched the Health Workforce Strategy for 2022 – 2030 for the Ministry for Health.
This Strategy sets out the overarching priorities and plans for building the future health workforce for the Maltese Public Health Service. It offers a strategic pathway through twenty-three (23) actions that have to be taken in the coming years so that the People Management Division together with stakeholders build the systems necessary to support, strengthen, and enable our workforce to deliver sustainable, patient-centred healthcare into the future.

Seminars for Guidance Teachers
The People Management Division organised its first out of three seminars for Career Guidance Teachers. The aim of these Seminars is to equip these teachers with the necessary information related to the diversity and roles of Heathcare professions. This will assist them with providing the support required to students who seek their advice.
Following a presentation by PMD representatives, a number of Healthcare Professionals discussed the various aspects of their roles within Healthcare with those present.
